Growth Hormone Secretagogue
CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin is a research mix of two lab-made peptides (short chains of amino acids). Each one works on a different "switch" that helps the body release growth hormone (GH) in natural bursts. CJC-1295 is a copy of a natural signal called growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), which tells the pituitary gland to put out growth hormone. Ipamorelin is a small peptide that flips a separate switch, the ghrelin receptor (also called the growth-hormone-secretagogue receptor). Researchers use the blend in the lab to study what happens when both switches are pushed at once.
CJC-1295 latches onto the GHRH "docking site" on hormone-making cells in the pituitary gland. Longer-lasting versions keep this signal going for more time [1]. Ipamorelin turns on only the ghrelin receptor, and in the study that first described it, researchers reported it triggered growth-hormone release about as strongly as GHRH, without much release of the stress-related hormones ACTH or cortisol [2]. Because the two peptides work through separate but complementary routes, researchers have paired them to see whether the combined effect is bigger than either one alone.
In healthy adults, a single shot of a long-lasting GHRH copy (CJC-1295) was reported to keep growth hormone and a related growth signal called IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor I) raised for longer [1]. Ipamorelin has been studied in cells and in rodents, where it released growth hormone in amounts that went up with the dose [2]. Related work reported longer bone growth in rats after it was given [3].
Because growth hormone and IGF-1 affect how the body builds proteins and grows bone, animal studies have looked at ghrelin-receptor peptides in tests of bone growth and body makeup [3]. These are early results from lab and animal experiments only.
